Puatala ran a two-day Science Spinners STEM Hub event in partnership with The Kudos Science Trust, engaging and inspiring Māori, Pacific and female students from low decile high schools across the Waikato in showcasing how science and STEMs applies within the Trades industries.
300+ students undertook 12 hands-on activities run by 12 industry experts (businesses) to get a taster of STEM-in-Trades, seeing first-hand how science applies in Civil/Structural, Electrical and Mechanical engineering sectors.
There were also 30+ internships, cadetships and apprenticeships on offer.
Thank you to the Ministry for Pacific Peoples - Toloa for helping us make this happen. And thank you to the companies that volunteered their time and resources to run amazing activities: CB Civil, Dempsey Wood Civil, Southbase Construction, Northpower, WEL Networks, Civtec, Ventia, Downer NZ, BCD Group, Azcend, ES Plastics and Vertex Engineering.
